Report: Spurs' Nuno in danger of being fired after loss to United
Nuno Espirito Santo's position on the Tottenham Hotspur bench is under serious threat after Saturday's 3-0 loss to Manchester United.
Club chairman Daniel Levy and football director Fabio Paratici held a crisis meeting to determine whether the under-fire manager should be sacked, reports Simon Stone of BBC Sport.
The harrowing defeat was punctuated by the home fans booing Nuno's substitutions; chants of "You don't know what you're doing" were aimed at the Portuguese tactician after he replaced Lucas Moura with Steven Bergwijn early in the second half.
Tottenham didn't produce a shot on target in the match.
Despite a rotten run of form that has seen the club fall to eighth in the Premier League table, Levy is reluctant to make such a big change this early in the season, sources told James Olley of ESPN. However, the hostility from the crowd was an eye-opener for Spurs brass, Olley adds.
Nuno, 47, signed a two-year contract with Tottenham in June. The former Wolves coach has overseen only 17 matches with Spurs.
Were he to be sacked, Porto boss Sergio Conceicao and Paulo Fonseca - who has been linked with the Newcastle job - are among the candidates to take over, according to Ed Aarons of The Guardian.
