Sergio Aguero notched his 175th, 176th, and 177th goals in England's top flight on Sunday, with the second of his three-goal haul establishing him as the highest-scoring foreign player in Premier League history.

The Manchester City striker tied Thierry Henry's record in the 6-1 win at Aston Villa, reaching the mark in three fewer matches than the Arsenal legend needed. He then passed the Frenchman half-an-hour later.

Aguero's third goal in the 81st minute also made him the first Premier League player to notch 12 hat-tricks in the competition, beating Alan Shearer's record.

At 31 years old and with one-and-a-half years remaining on his City contract, there's time for the Argentinian to climb even further up the Premier League's goals ladder.

Player Goals
Alan Shearer 260
Wayne Rooney 208
Andrew Cole 187
Frank Lampard 177
Sergio Aguero 177

Aguero converted City's third goal in under 28 minutes at Villa Park with a vicious strike from distance before picking out the bottom corner in the 57th minute while fending off three opponents. His hat-trick was completed when Riyad Mahrez teed him up following a defensive lapse.

City were at their breathless best in Birmingham, slicing through Aston Villa with a series of incisive passes and penetrative runs. Mahrez scored City's first two goals, and Gabriel Jesus got in on the act just before halftime.

The reigning Premier League champions' next match is against Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
