Brendan Rodgers, who's steered Leicester City to second in the Premier League, has signed a new contract with the club until June 2025.

His previous deal ran until 2022.

Rodgers reportedly drew interest from Arsenal as a potential replacement for Unai Emery.

The 46-year-old has won 17 of 26 Premier League matches since taking over in February.

"When I made the decision to come to Leicester City, it was because I was excited about the direction the club was taking and how I could apply my experience to the journey," Rodgers said in a statement. "I came here with a purpose to add something to that and to help the club build for the future."

The deal will increase Rodgers' earnings from his previous £5 million per year, according to The Telegraph's John Percy. His release clause is also expected to jump from £14 million.

Leicester moved quickly to reward Rodgers and ward off any clubs tempted to poach their manager. Following a year and a half under the cautious Claude Puel, Rodgers came in with a more positive approach. James Maddison and Youri Tielemans have sparkled in attacking roles, and Jamie Vardy has scored in seven straight matches, coming within four of the record he set during Leicester's title-winning run in 2015-16.

"Brendan's qualities as a coach are well-known and evident in the way he has sought to unlock the potential in every member of our young squad," chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said. "But just as important to us is the suitability of Brendan's wider philosophy to the club's established culture and values."
