Liverpool are expecting to be without star shot-stopper Alisson for the next four-to-eight weeks, James Pearce of The Athletic reports.

The Brazilian goalkeeper suffered a calf injury in the first half of Friday's Premier League opener against Norwich City, limping off the pitch with the help of a trainer.

He was replaced by Adrian, whom the Reds signed earlier in the week on a free transfer. Liverpool went on to win the contest by a score of 4-1.

"Adrian is a good goalie. In possession he is calm and he is good at shot-stopping, that's why we signed him," manager Jurgen Klopp said after Friday's encounter at Anfield. "It's good for him but we have a little problem with Ali."

Alisson, 26, started all 38 league matches for Klopp last season. He has already been ruled out for next week's UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea.

The reported timeline means he'll almost certainly miss upcoming league matches against Southampton, Arsenal, Burnley, and Newcastle.
