Dominic Solanke ended an underwhelming 18 months at Liverpool with a permanent move to Bournemouth on Friday.

The south coast side reportedly stumped up £19 million to sign the English striker, according to the Echo's James Pearce.

Liverpool full-back Nathaniel Clyne also joined the Cherries on loan until the end of the season.

"I think the club is going somewhere," Solanke told Bournemouth's website. "Over the past few years, they have been really good in the Premier League and had some good positional finishes as well. I think it's a good club to be at, especially for someone of my age."

Solanke arrived at Anfield in June 2017 on a free transfer from Chelsea, but the ensuing year-and-a-half provided just five Premier League starts.

The 21-year-old can also expect competition for places at Bournemouth, where Callum Wilson and Joshua King earn regular minutes at the striker position. But the departure of Jermain Defoe - who's reportedly set to complete a move to Rangers - should buoy Solanke's chances.

"Dominic is technically gifted, very athletic, and has the physical profile that will give us something different in our front line," manager Eddie Howe added. "He has done very well for England at various age groups, has a huge amount of potential, and I'm really excited about working with him."

Crystal Palace reportedly passed on Solanke after expressing concerns over his fitness. He missed several weeks of action this season with a nagging hamstring injury.

Fulham, Huddersfield Town, and Brighton & Hove Albion also showed interest, according to The Telegraph's Chris Bascombe.

Solanke made headlines during the 2017 Under-21 FIFA World Cup, winning the Golden Ball as the tournament's top scorer.
