Franck Ribery's foul-mouthed outburst on social media is going to cost him.

The Bayern Munich midfielder has been fined by the club for launching a scathing attack on critics who disapproved of his purchase of a gold-coated steak while on holiday. Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic addressed the situation with Ribery during the team's training camp in Dubai, saying that the Frenchman has accepted the punishment that the team will impose on him.

"I had a long talk with Franck and I let him know that we would impose a heavy fine on him and he accepted it," Salihamidzic said, according to The Telegraph.

"He used words that we, FC Bayern, cannot accept and that Franck does not have the right to use, as a role model and player of FC Bayern," he added.

The club revealed Sunday that Ribery had been invited to a restaurant in Dubai as part of an advertising campaign. Bayern claim that reports that he paid €1,200 for the steak are unfounded.

The controversy started when Ribery posted a video on social media of Nusret Gokce, also known as "Salt Bae," serving him a gold-covered Tomahawk steak.

After the video attracted criticism, Ribery responded with a series of obscenity-laced posts directed at his "haters".

"For 2019, let's dot the i's and cross the t's," he said in a Twitter post. "Let's start with the jealous, the haters, those only born because a condom had a hole in (it): f--- your mothers, your grandmothers, and even your family tree. I owe you nothing.

"My success is, above all, thanks to God, me, and my loved ones who believed in me. For the others, you're nothing but pebbles in my socks!"
