Real Madrid reached an agreement with Rennes on Monday to sign 18-year-old midfielder Eduardo Camavinga for €31 million, according to The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano.

Madrid reportedly beat out competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United to sign one of football's most promising teenagers.

Camavinga is considered a long-term replacement for Luka Modric, Sky Sports' Kaveh Solhekol reports.

His contract with the Ligue 1 outfit was due to expire after the 2021-22 season.

Camavinga is set to become Madrid's second signing of the summer after defender David Alaba, who joined the club on a free transfer from Bayern Munich.

The Angola-born French international will join an increasingly youthful side that includes 20-year-old Rodrygo, 21-year-old Vinicius Junior, and 23-year-old's Federico Valverde, and Eder Militao.

A defensive midfielder by trade, Camavinga can operate in an advanced role and dribble into space. He has considerable experience for someone his age, having played in 71 Ligue 1 matches and four Champions League games since his senior debut in April 2019.

In September 2020, he became France's youngest international in nearly a century, making history at 17 years and nine months with a second-half appearance in the Nations League.
