Salah fit to face Genk; Alexander-Arnold, Matip ruled out

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was included in the squad that will travel to Belgium for Wednesday's Champions League clash with Genk after overcoming an ankle injury.

The Egyptian forward suffered the injury right before the international break when he twisted his left ankle against Leicester City on Oct. 5.

The knock forced Salah - who scored twice in Liverpool's Champions League opening win over RB Salzburg - to miss Sunday's 1-1 draw against Manchester United. The 27-year-old is in contention for a return on Wednesday after being named to manager Jurgen Klopp's 19-man squad.

While news of his possible appearance will provide a boost for the Merseyside outfit, Liverpool will be without a pair of key defenders against Genk as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip have been ruled out of the contest.

Alexander-Arnold, who was one of seven Reds players named to the 30-man shortlist for the Ballon d'Or award, will be sidelined due to a virus, while Matip is dealing with a sore knee.

After beating Salzburg earlier this month, Liverpool will look to make it two Champions League wins in a row against a Genk side that sits at the bottom of Group E with just one point.
