If Liverpool are to pull off an incredible Champions League comeback against Barcelona, they'll need to do it without their attacking lynchpin.

Manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Roberto Firmino will miss Tuesday's semifinal clash at Anfield with an undisclosed muscular problem.

"He will not be ready for Tuesday, and the rest we will see," the German bench boss said after Saturday's dramatic league win over Newcastle.

The Reds trail their semifinal tie 3-0 following another magical Lionel Messi performance in the first leg earlier this week.

Firmino, who picked up the ailment in training last week, was only able to make a brief cameo off the bench at the Camp Nou. Midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, who started in his place up front, was ineffectual during the defeat.

The Brazilian was then left out of the squad for Saturday's madcap win over the Magpies, which kept the Reds in with a shot of capturing their first-ever Premier League title.

Liverpool could also be without Mohamed Salah on Tuesday. The Egyptian superstar was stretchered off at St. James' Park after a scary collision left him lying on the pitch with an apparent head injury.

If both are absent, Klopp will have to choose between Divock Origi, Daniel Sturridge, and Xherdan Shaqiri to support attacking mainstay Sadio Mane.
