Bayern's Coman, Alaba fit to face Liverpool

Bayern Munich received a boost ahead of Wednesday's decisive Champions League encounter against Liverpool with the news that Kingsley Coman and David Alaba have overcome their respective injuries.

Bayern manager Niko Kovac confirmed Tuesday that both players will be available for the second leg of Bayern's round of 16 meeting at the Allianz Arena, but stopped short of revealing whether they'll be named to the starting team.

"King is fit for tomorrow, but we'll have to see if it's enough for him to start," Kovac said. "He's important for us because he gives us another dimension."

The manager added: "David took part in training yesterday and will take part in today's session. I'm certain he'll be involved."

Coman was named to the starting XI for Bayern's first meeting with Liverpool, a goalless affair at Anfield. But the winger later suffered a hamstring injury that's sidelined him since Feb. 23.

Alaba hasn't played since his side's final February match because of a tendon injury.

Bayern also announced Monday that Robert Lewandowski took part in an individual training session, while Thomas Muller, who is ineligible to play the second leg due to suspension, was absent due to family reasons.
