Cristiano Ronaldo should get his Old Trafford homecoming after all.

After the Juventus superstar was red-carded in the 2-0 win over Valencia in the Champions League on Wednesday, his eligibility for the Bianconeri's visit to Manchester United on Oct. 23 looked to be in doubt.

However, the 33-year-old five-time Ballon d'Or winner will likely be available to face his former club as UEFA is set to hand the Portugal captain a one-game ban, according to the Guardian's Jamie Jackson.

In that case, Ronaldo would miss Juventus' home clash with Young Boys on Oct. 2, and though UEFA could still extend the suspension, it's not expected. The governing body confirmed that Ronaldo's case will be resolved by Sept. 27.

The decision to send off Ronaldo - one seemingly made by the referee after consultation with the goal-line official - has been hotly debated. The former Real Madrid man made contact with Los Che defender Jeison Murillo's head and berated his opponent for falling to the ground in response to the touch.

Ronaldo, who'd never been sent off in 153 previous Champions League appearances, left the field in tears following the decision.

Regardless, it appears Ronaldo won't be denied a return to Old Trafford, where he first gained global recognition. In six years at United, Ronaldo helped the club win the 2008 Champions League along with six major domestic trophies. He also earned the first of his Ballon d'Or quintet.
