Manziel says he's 'Johnny for life,' open to 'any football options'
Johnny Manziel's name change may not be permanent.
The former Cleveland Browns quarterback, who announced earlier this month that he's going by John now, told TMZ Sports he's "Johnny for life" while in Hollywood on Thursday night.
"Don't believe everything you hear," he said.
Manziel was also asked if he'd be open to playing in the XFL, which is set to begin play in 2020.
"Any football," he replied. "Any football options."
XFL commissioner Oliver Luck left the door open for Manziel to join the league during an appearance on the "PFT PM" podcast April 8.
"If he is able to meet our standards and if our coaches think he's one of the top quarterbacks out there that can help us," Luck said. "Certainly we have no reason not to believe he couldn't be in the mix. But again, it's really up to our coaches in terms of the quarterbacks they wanna take a look at."
