One of the biggest boxing matches of the year won't proceed as scheduled.

The May 7 fight between Naoya Inoue and Stephen Fulton for the unified 122-pound championship has been postponed after Inoue sustained an injury during training, sources told ESPN's Mike Coppinger. The type of injury has not been reported.

No new date has been officially scheduled, although Fulton said one is confirmed.

The 29-year-old Inoue is widely regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, while Fulton, 28, is ranked as the No. 1 super bantamweight fighter by ESPN.

Inoue vacated his undisputed bantamweight championships to move up to super bantamweight and challenge Fulton. Both boxers are undefeated.
