Errol Spence Jr. in stable condition after car crash
Welterweight boxing champion Errol Spence Jr. is in stable condition in a Dallas hospital after a car crash on Thursday, Premier Boxing Champions said, according to BoxingScene.com's Keith Idec.
The 29-year-old didn't suffer any broken bones or fractures in the accident, and he's expected to fully recover.
"Errol was in an accident, and his parents are with him at the hospital," PBC spokesman Tim Smith told ESPN. "The doctors are monitoring his condition, but his injuries are not life-threatening. We will have further updates as the doctors update his condition. We're all wishing the best for Errol."
Spence, who recently defeated Shawn Porter to unify two of the 147-pound titles, crashed his Ferrari while traveling at "a high rate of speed," according to Dallas police.
"The Ferrari veered left over the center median onto the southbound lanes and flipped multiple times, ejecting the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt," police said.
Authorities have opened an investigation into the cause of the crash.
