Texas A&M freshman tennis player Patrick Kypson apparently didn't take too kindly to losing to Ohio State's J.J. Wolf.

The pair squared off Friday in a rematch of the 2017 USTA Boys 18s National Championships final in Kalamazoo, Mich., with Wolf defeating Kypson 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. As Wolf approached the net afterward, Kypson appeared to spit in his hand. Wolf noticed, though, and avoided the handshake.

Texas A&M men's tennis head coach Steve Denton released the following statement to Deadspin regarding the incident:

Sportsmanship and respect are pillars of the sport of tennis and Texas A&M, and Patrick Kypson's actions at the conclusion of his match at Ohio State were counter to that. He has been appropriately disciplined for his behavior. Patrick's not only remorseful for what he did, but is acting on that to show that he learned a valuable lesson. We will support him in that effort. We have addressed his actions with him and with our friends at Ohio State.
