Richard Sherman comes to Richard Sherman's defense

Richard Sherman refuses to buy into any of the talk that he's not a shutdown cornerback.

The All-Pro corner came to his own defense via Twitter Sunday after a 30-21 loss to the San Diego Chargers.

Sherman was primarily matched up against Chargers receiver Keenan Allen, who caught five passes for 55 yards.

After the game, Allen and tight end Antonio Gates spoke candidly about the Legion of Boom.

"We took some shots at (Sherman). We won. We were able to convert whenever we wanted to," Allen told ESPN.

Gates took aim at the entire secondary, and, after a three-touchdown performance, is entitled to.

"The Legion of Boom is what I’ve been hearing about all week. Obviously, they believe in their skills to cover," Gates said.

The five-time All-Pro tight end made a mockery of Seahawks linebacker Malcolm Smith while consistently finding seams against a group that is among the best in the league at taking away the middle of the field.

Sherman will have an excellent chance to prove his shutdown abilities in Week 3 in a Super Bowl rematch with the Denver Broncos.
