Top 7 revenge games scheduled for the 2017 NFL season

It may no longer be "Summer Sixteen," but the NFL is still full of people looking for revenge.

With the release of the official 2017 NFL schedule last Thursday, there's a fair few players who have at least one game circled on their calendars.

For various reasons, here are seven games with plenty of retribution on the line:

Seahawks at Packers - Week 1

Stop calling me fat!

Eddie Lacy will finally have a chance to release the frustration of being body-shamed by the the Green Bay Packers for the last four years as his new team takes on his old one to kick off the season.

The big back had been pressured by his team, particularly head coach Mike McCarthy, to shed some pounds during the early stages of his career, but new head coach Pete Carroll is much more receptive to letting Lacy play large.

Bears at Buccaneers - Week 2

New Chicago Bears quarterback Mike Glennon will see a familiar sight in his second start since November 2014 - the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' defense.

Glennon spent the last two campaigns backing up Jameis Winston and running the scout team offense in Tampa after starting for the first season and a half of his career. The Buccaneers didn't put up a fight while he walked out the door to become the Bears' first-string quarterback as they've become enamored with Winston.

While the Buccaneers had little choice but to pick a quarterback with the first selection in 2015, Glennon will have a chance to show them they should have given him more time.

Patriots at Saints - Week 2

This could still be a double-revenge game if the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots can work out a swap for Malcolm Butler, though that's looking less likely now than earlier this offseason.

Still, the return to New Orleans for Brandin Cooks will carry its own exciting story line. Cooks was reportedly upset with being used as a decoy in the Saints' offense, and may end up doing more of the same in New England with another future Hall-of-fame quarterback.

Cooks could be set up for success as the Saints' secondary is full of holes.

Packers at Cowboys - Week 5

Remember the only good game in the playoffs other than the Super Bowl?

The Dallas Cowboys surely do.

After climbing out of an early 21-3 hole, Dak Prescott and the Cowboys drew even in clutch style late in the fourth quarter before Aaron Rodgers conducted his magic and set up a last-second, game-winning field goal.

Browns at Texans - Week 6

If Brock Osweiler is still on the Cleveland Browns' roster in October, he's going to be fired up for this one - which would be neat since we've never seen him emotional at all.

The Texans have been adamant they're happy with letting Osweiler go, even after failing to land Tony Romo, and are glad to replace him with Tom Savage, who has two career starts.

It will definitely be an uphill battle to take down the division-winning Texans with a roster that went 1-15 last year, but that would just make the revenge so much sweeter.

Falcons at Patriots - Week 7

Whether they're willing to admit to it or not, the Atlanta Falcons must be waking up in a cold sweat every night imagining what could have been if they hadn't lost the Super Bowl.

Sometimes it takes a few seasons for the schedule to spit out a Super Bowl rematch; however, we will have to wait less than a year to see this classic again.

If the Falcons win, they won't get a ring, but they will get a sense of relief, as the Patriots are even harder to beat at home than they are in the Super Bowl.

Bills at Chargers - Week 11

Oddly, after promoting him from running backs coach to offensive coordinator to interim head coach, the Buffalo Bills said "no thank you" to returning Anthony Lynn to their staff.

Instead of sticking around in Buffalo through a Northern winter, Lynn scored a job in Los Angeles with the Chargers, who will host the Bills in November. Lynn will get his chance to prove the Bills already had their replacement for Rex Ryan in-house, though he likely much prefers living in his new house.
