Thomas tweets he's considering retirement after breaking leg

Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas is apparently contemplating calling it a career after leaving Sunday night's game against the Carolina Panthers with a lower-leg fracture.

Head coach Pete Carroll specified that the injury is a "cracked tibia" to NBC's Michele Tafoya.

Thomas could not put any weight on his injured leg as he left the field, and was reportedly seen on crutches in the Seahawks' locker room. The All-Pro safety was initially ruled questionable to return by the team after being tended to by trainers on the sideline, and needed a cart to get back to the locker room.

"Earl is apt to say something that might surprise you, and he did," Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said after the game, via Lindsay Jones of USA TODAY.

The seven-year pro missed the first game of his career last week with a hamstring injury.

Having collided with fellow safety Kam Chancellor on the play that injured his leg, Thomas had a sense of humor with the injury, demanding a steak from his safety partner.
