There might not be blockbuster buzz around Manny Pacquiao's next fight, but he believes it is essential to building on his already impressive legacy.

Speaking at a press conference in Brisbane to promote his July 2 bout with Australia's Jeff Horn, the eight-division boxing champion and current WBO welterweight titleholder told the media that he still has plenty to offer inside the ring.

"I want to defend my crown and prove I am still there in boxing - I am not done yet in boxing," Pacquiao said, according to the Associated Press. "Despite my business in the office as a senator I am still handling my boxing career.

"Boxing is my passion. I started when I was young - it's part of my life."

Pacquiao briefly retired last April to focus on his political responsibilities in the Philippines. He officially won a chair in his country's senate a month later, but was soon granted temporary leave to prepare for a comeback fight with Jessie Vargas in November, which Pacquiao won by unanimous decision.

The 38-year-old boxer has stated many times that his political responsibilities remain a priority, but he is confident that he can structure his training schedule around them to stay in fighting shape.

"It depends on how you discipline yourself, how you train and prepare yourself," Pacquiao said. "It's a matter of discipline."
