Gonzaga's Few: Reaching Elite Eight 'means everything'

Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

Gonzaga has never made a Final Four in school history, but the Bulldogs got one step closer with a 61-58 victory over West Virginia in the Sweet 16 on Thursday.

Head coach Mark Few was asked after the game what it means to get back to the Elite Eight and he was clear that it was a monumental moment, but the work is not done yet either with a spot in the Final Four on the line in their next game.

"It means everything, man. We've been focused on Phoenix forever, we desperately want to get there, now we're 40 minutes away," Few said.

With the Mountaineers' full-court press on full display all night long, the Zags managed to eek out a tight win in a hard-nosed game filled with fouls and turnovers. That style has come to define West Virginia's team under Bob Huggins, but Few was proud of the way his team showed its resolve.

"West Virginia's about as tough and physical a team as we've played in years, I'm talking about years," Few said. "But you know what, the Zags are tough and physical too."

Next up for Few and the Zags will be a date in the Midwest Region final with Xavier.
