The Los Angeles Lakers reportedly chased Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers to fill their newly vacated front office, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

But with Myers having just signed an extension to remain in Oakland, the Lakers will focus instead on Rob Pelinka - the longtime agent of Kobe Bryant.

Longtime Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak was officially relieved of his duties on Tuesday, but the search for a replacement was already underway before the announcement was made official.

Magic Johnson, the Lakers' President of Basketball Operations, told reporters that he is looking for someone who understands the CBA and holds strong relationships with players to be the Lakers' next GM. Pelinka checks off both those boxes.

Los Angeles also reportedly has interest in Portland Trail Blazers general manager Neil Olshey, although prying him away would be difficult, Wojnarowski adds.
