As part of Bellator's first-ever show in New York, company president Scott Coker is reportedly planning to have one of MMA's most highly touted prospects make his professional fighting debut at Madison Square Garden on June 24, according to ESPN's Brett Okamoto.

The 20-year-old Pico was signed by Bellator in 2014 while still in the middle of a storied amateur wrestling career. The Californian has won multiple international wrestling titles as well as a 2009 Golden Gloves amateur boxing championship.

Coker has repeatedly praised Pico as the future of the sport.

With four major fights already scheduled for the Bellator: NYC pay-per-view portion of the evening, it is likely Pico will instead be booked for the Bellator 180 card set to air on Spike TV prior to the PPV.

Pico will compete in the lightweight division against an opponent yet to be determined.
