Former Haas team principal Guenther Steiner recently admitted he stayed with the race team too long.

"Life has been good since I left Haas ahead of this season," Steiner wrote in a column for Formula 1's official website.

"These last few weeks are the first time I've switched off from F1 for around a decade. This time has been good for me. The longer time goes on, the more I can see that I stayed at Haas too long."

Steiner's contract with Haas wasn't renewed ahead of the 2024 season after nine years as team principal. Haas finished last in the constructor standings last season and has finished higher than eighth only once since 2018.

The 58-year-old Italian, who rose to popularity in recent years thanks to his off-the-wall appearances on racing docuseries "Formula 1: Drive to Survive," said he would welcome a return to F1 if the right opportunity arose.

"I would come back to F1 in the future, but it needs to be the right project, done right," Steiner said.
